سنہ 2016 میں پاکستان کے شہر کوئٹہ کے سِول ہسپتال پر ہونے والے حملے کے بعد ایک ویڈیو اور کچھ تصاویر سوشل میڈیا پر وائرل ہوئی تھیں جن میں ایک خاتون ڈاکٹر کو زمین پر گرے ہوئے زخمیوں کی مدد کرتے ہوئے دیکھا جا سکتا تھا۔ درحقیقت وہ موقع پر موجود ان چند ہی ڈاکٹرز میں سے تھیں جو اس کٹھن وقت میں بم حملے میں زخمی ہونے والوں کی مدد کر رہے تھے۔

یہ تھیں کوئٹہ کی ڈاکٹر شہلا سمیع جنھیں ان کے اس کارنامے پر اتنی پزیرائی ملی کہ انھیں ان کے ساتھیوں نے ’آئرن لیڈی ڈاکٹر‘ کا خطاب دے دیا۔ بدھ کی شب ڈاکٹر شہلا سمیع کا اسی سِول ہسپتال میں انتقال ہو گیا جس کے باہر انھوں نے 2016 میں کئی زخمیوں کی جانیں بچائی تھیں۔

ان کا انتقال دل کا دورہ پڑنے کے باعث ہوا ہے۔

ڈاکٹر سمیع کے انتقال کے بعد سول ہسپتال کی شعبہ گائناکالوجی کی انچارج ڈاکٹر نائلہ نے صحافی مخمد زبیر خان کو بتایا کہ وہ ایک انتہائی ہمدرد اور مخلص معالج تھیں۔ ’میں نے ان کے ساتھ کافی عرصہ کام کیا اور انھیں ہمیشہ ایماندار اور اپنے پیشے سے مخلص پایا۔‘

ان کی ساتھی ڈاکٹر فضیلہ نے بتایا کہ ان کے انتقال سے پاکستان ایک ہمدرد ڈاکٹر کی خدمات سے محروم ہو گیا ہے۔ ان کا کہنا تھا کہ پروفیسر اور سینیئر ڈاکٹر ہونے کے باوجود وہ اپنے وارڈ میں ہر مریض کو خود دیکھتی تھیں اور کئی مریضوں کو نہ صرف ادوایات مہیا کرتیں بلکہ دور دراز سے آنے والوں کے لیے کھانے کا انتظام بھی کرتی تھیں۔

کوئٹہ کے سِول ہسپتال پر آٹھ اگست 2016 کو ہونے والے حملے کے بعد بی بی سی سے بات کرتے ہوئے مقامی صحافی جمال ترکئی نے ڈاکٹر شہلا کی بہادری کی تعریف کرتے ہوئے کہا تھا کہ 'دھماکے کے بعد جب گولیوں کی آوازیں آ رہی تھیں اور ہر کوئی اپنی جان بچانے کے لیے بھاگ رہا تھا تو اس وقت ڈاکٹر شہلا سمیع زخمی مریضوں کی مرہم پٹی کر رہی تھیں۔'

جمال ترکئی اس دھماکے کے عینی شاہد تھے اور ان کی بنائی ہوئی ویڈیوز کی بنا پر ڈاکٹر شہلا سمیع کی بہادری کو سراہا گیا۔ ان تصاویر اور ویڈیو میں دیکھا جاسکتا ہے کہ ڈاکٹر سمیع اپنے اردگرد خطرے سے بے نیاز زخمی وکلا کو ابتدائی طبی امداد فراہم کر رہی ہیں۔

جمال ترکئی کا کہنا تھا کہ 'دھماکے کے بعد جب فائرنگ شروع ہوئی تو سول ہسپتال کے شعبۂ ایمرجنسی میں موجود 30 کے قریب ڈاکٹر، پیرا میڈیکس، نرسوں سمیت عام افراد صرف اپنی جان بچانے کی بھاگ دوڑ کر رہے تھے جب کہ ڈاکٹر شہلا جائے وقوع کی جانب دوڑ رہی تھیں۔'

اس وقت ڈاکٹر شہلا سمیع نے بیبی سی سے بات کرتے ہوئے کہا تھا کہ 'یہ مشکل لمحات تھے اور اس موقع پر طبی عملہ موجود نہیں تھا اور اس وقت ضرورت اس بات کی تھی کہ زخمی وکلا کا خون بند کیا جائے جس کے لیے میں نے وکلا کی ٹائیاں اور کوٹ استعمال کیے۔'

ان کا کہنا تھا 'ایک زخمی وکیل کو کم از کم چار وکیل اٹھا کر سرجری وارڈ میں پہنچاتے۔ میں زخمی وکیل کی طبی امداد کرتی اور پھر چیخ چیخ کر زخمی وکلا کو اٹھانے کے بارے میں ہدایات دیتی تھی۔'

انھوں نے کہا تھا: 'جائے وقوعہ پر تقریبا 15 منٹ بعد پہنچنی والی پہلی ایمبولینس بھی ایدھی والوں کی منی ایمبولینس تھی مگر اس کا راستہ بھی موقعے پر پہنچنے والی پولیس موبائل نے روک رکھا تھا۔ جس پر میں نے وکلا سے کہا کہ وہ پولیس اہلکاروں کو بتائیں کہ ایمولینس کو راستہ دیا جائے اور روڈ کو باقی ٹریفک کے لیے بند کروایا جائے تاکہ دیگر ایمبولینسیں موقعے پر پہنچ سکیں۔'

’میں نے ڈاکٹر بنتے ہوئے حلف لیا تھا کہ ہر صورت میں انسانی جان بچانے کی کوشش کریں گی۔ اس میں عورت، مرد، مقام اور جگہ کی تفریق نہیں ہوگی بس آٹھ اگست کو اپنا حلف نبھانے کی کوشش کی ہے۔'

ان 45 منٹوں کے دوران ڈاکٹر شہلا سمیع نے کئی افراد کو ابتدائی طبی امداد فراہم کر کے ان کی جان بچائی۔
